What I wore... on my date with Ben Affleck!! (I wish...)

Welcome back Insomniacs! I want to welcome my new readers from Thailand... ขอขอบคุณ! Have you guys seen Gone Girl yet?? Oh man, it was soooo good! I'm a big reader and am usually majorly disappointed when excellent books are made into movies. But not this one! It was a PERFECT adaptation, with PERFECT casting, and the PERFECT mood for such a twisted, creepy story. And Ben Affleck was incredible! Just, wow! I don't know about you, but when I'm going to see a movie with FULL FRONTAL BEN AFFLECK, I leave the hubby at home and go with a girlfriend and 13 gay guys! Haha! Only they can truly appreciate the sights with me ;) We had SUCH a fun night!
San Diego still hasn't received the fall memo, so the day was in the 90's, but I am SO tired of summer clothes, so I decide to screw the heat and dress for fall. Sure, I was sweating my ass off, but I'm just SO ready!! If you have followed me for a while, you know my style is pretty flirty and feminine, but I have always wanted to be one of those cool girls who can pull off combat boots... Sooooo, I just tried it. In an attempt to appear "edgy", I just used lots of black eyeliner and tried to look moody in my pix. Haha! What do you think??

What I wore... To my grandpa's 90th birthday party!!!

Welcome back Insomniacs! This weekend we had a big party for my grandpa's 90th birthday. It was SO amazing! My grandparents are such generous and beautiful people who have made such a difference in their community. My grandfather is a truly remarkable man. We love him most for being such a great father, grandfather, and great grandfather to this family, but he has also been so much more to so many people. He has been in the Army Air Corps, served on the city council and with the Kiwanis Club, has been a pilot, has been named Man of the Year (and get this! Grandma was named Woman of the Year!! Lucky man...) and has been a successful businessman for more than sixty years. He has done it all with such integrity and humor, that it was no surprise how many people showed up. The place was packed full with their friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues.  It was so cool to see how many people love and wanted to celebrate this man. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we are proud to have Robert Moore as the patriarch of this family.
Ok, now on to this outfit... Last week my husband gave me a surprise gift that he picked out all by himself!! He had it laid out on our bed, and he always says that he can tell when I love something, when I start squealing before I even touch it. He knows my style so well... It's my absolute favorite!! This skirt was so much fun to wear (and spin in!).  So it was the perfect outfit for this perfect day! Now I want it in EVERY SINGLE COLOR!!! (got that, Ryan??)

What I wore... to Girls Night In!!

Welcome back Insomniacs! I want to welcome my new readers from Romania... multumesc! Having a BBB (best blogging buddy) is THE best thing ever!! The Stylish Housewife had a few friends over for a super fun "Girls Night In" complete with wine, nail painting, and cupcakes! Woot woot!! We had such a fun night gossiping and just enjoying being girls! We got to use the new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail polish, which is gel WITHOUT the light! Wowza! My nails have never been this shiny. Can't stop staring at them!  I got to take home my favorite color, Redgy, along with a top coat for extra shine. Can't wait to see how long it lasts!
This fringe tank may be my new favorite thing. There's nothing better than fringe to  distract from that dreaded part where the jeans and tummy meet, (you know what I'm talking about ladies...) particularly while eating cupcakes!

What I wore... to a bbq!

Welcome back Insomniacs! Ok, so I have been debating if I should even post these pix because I am SO unsure about this outfit! Overalls are totally on trend right now and I'm seeing them everywhere. Some of these girls make them look SO fab and sexy, but I have just been too scared to try it out. Actually, I'm feeling the same way about the scrunchie making its comeback. I mean, who doesn't love a scrunchie? But I have this horrible fear that I won't be able to pull it off and look like a 90's loser! Haha! Anyway, when I saw this overall dress, I thought maybe it could be the answer to my "overall dilemma". I know I can handle a dress! So here it is... can't decide if it's super cute or lame country girl... I'll leave it up to you to decide... I'd love to hear your thoughts in a comment!

What I wore... to a Kohls Event!

Welcome back Insomniacs! Last week I went with The Stylish Housewife to Kohls for a bra fitting event. They say that 80 percent of women wear the wrong size bra, and I know I was! It is SO nice to wear a perfect fitting bra! Yay!!
We are having a MAJOR heat wave here in San Diego, so even wearing a white top and a skirt, we were MELTING taking these pictures. Thanks to The Stylish Housewife for hanging in there and taking my pix!! I've noticed that I have been wearing buns in almost every post lately. One, because it's too dang hot to have my hair on my neck, and two, because I finally learned how to make a perfect bun, and I'm STOKED!!! My hubby picked up one of those "bun helpers" from H&M for $3.99, and I'll tell you, it's the best four bucks he's ever spent. I'm obsessed!!

What I wore... to an anniversary party!

Welcome back Insomniacs! This weekend I went to, my first ever, lesbian couple's first wedding anniversary party! These woman have been together for 19 years, and it was such a beautiful thing to see them be able to celebrate the traditions of marriage. And, if anyone knows how to throw a party, it's two fabulous ladies! The tables were absolutely gorgeous, the bands were amazing, and the food... just wow!! This last picture is from the mashed potato bar. OMG!!! Best idea ever!! Yum yum yum.
I got this Lavand. dress last year, but always thought that it needed to be shortened, so I put it in my "take to tailor" bag, which for me essentially means, "sits in bag for a year"...  Because this was a classy affair, I decided a midi length would actually be appropriate, so I got it out and finally wore it. It was SO fun to wear! Love the colors! Now, could San Diego please realize that summer is over?? This 100 degree plus heat is KILLING me and I'm so jealous of all the other blogger's fall fashions. I'm ready for sweaters!!!
